O4P NY to Gov. Palin: “Take NY…all 29 Electoral Votes”

As Gov. Palin signed my Organize4Palin New York State shirt at the Machine Shed restaurant in Clive, IA nine days ago, I said, “Take New York. Take the heart of it. Take it all...all 29 electoral votes. Do it for my wife. Do it for my mother. Do it for all the little girls of this country.”

Now, in my capacity as Organize4Palin's New York State Coordinator, I was making official our commitment to ensuring that should she choose to run for President, we are behind her 110%. Her signature upon that shirt was her acknowledgment that we were making this significant commitment.

Much has been written about the meet/greet session Gov. Palin had with us at the Machine Shed, the epic speech she delivered in Indianola less than 24 hours later, and the meet and greet session that lasted nearly 50% longer than the speech itself.

But these two days were not just about speeches, meeting, greeting, and good times. Organize4Palin volunteers were hard at work in Indianola and for the weeks and months prior to the event. LJ Regine, our Manhattan/Queens Coordinator and Dennis McHale, Suffolk County Coordinator were present, along with McHale's daughter. The team distributed many O4P palm cards during the Indianola rally and helped sign up new members in coordination with Organize4Palin Iowa. O4P volunteers came from over 20 states to help sign up new members at this rally, staff the O4P booth, live-stream and record the rally, and do some of the behind-the-scenes grunt work. We all had a role to play and the result is proof of what happens when people combine their talents and work in common cause.

As this goes to press, Organize4Palin New York is preparing an urgent project: voter registration. Per my telephone conversation with a representative from the New York State Board of Elections, anyone who has not registered as a Republican by October 14 will not be eligible to vote in the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary. In the coming days, registering Independents, Conservatives, and those with no party affiliation at all will be our top priority. To get those 29 electoral votes, Gov. Palin must first win primaries and caucuses if she runs.

Primaries and caucuses are what matter, not straw polls and media debates.

If you are reading this, and you live in New York State, and are not registered Republican please take care of this NOW. Go to the New York State Board of Elections Website to get the process started. Again, you cannot vote for Gov. Palin in New York State if you not registered as a Republican by 25 days before this year's general election. That deadline is October 14, 2011.

The time is now.
