Gov. Palin on Fox Sunday: Will Step on Toes of Those who Screw Up

"I did not mean to step on [Mitt Romney's] toes, and I truly do apologize, but I will step on the toes of those who keep screwing up," Governor Palin said in her closing remarks to a 30-minute-long wide-ranging interview with Chris Wallace on Fox Sunday from Arizona.

Wallace opened the interview citing a gain of 54,000 jobs for May 2011 which is the lowest in eight months, and a 9.1% unemployment rate. Gov. Palin later added that the under-employment rate is at 17%. She said that two rounds of Quantitative Easing have failed and now Obama is moving to "QE III". She said his "bump in the road" analogy was flawed. "We hit a brick wall," and we need to start talking about solutions - ramp up growth industries in the private sector."

Gov. Palin said that "April was a tough month," with 50,000 jobs added, but those were for McDonald's. "Big government is not working. We need to shift gears and change course. It's noble of President Obama to want to say at the helm and go down with the ship, but we don't need to go the way of the Titanic," she said.

When asked "what would President Palin do"? she answered, "I would go in the opposite direction of Obama and the Democrats. We still have a 9.1% unemployment rate, 17% under-employment. I would cut the federal budget, cut burdensome regulations and mandates, cut taxes, not outsource our jobs, and unleash our domestic energy resources."

"Energy is the key to prosperity and security," Gov. Palin said, adding that "it does come down to 'Drill baby, Drill!'".

When asked about whether not raising the debt ceiling by August 2, 2011 would be catastrophic, Gov. Palin answered, "I don't believe Timothy Geithner when he cries 'wolf' for the fourth time. " On the threat of Moody's lowering our credit rating, Gov. Palin said, "Moody's message is powerful. We rake in $6 billion to $8 billion per day. We should prioritize that money to service the debt and cut other things." Gov. Palin said she knows the debt ceiling will be raised, because the Democratic majority supports it, but if she were in Congress, she would vote "no". "It will only give the big spenders just another tool to increase debt." Gov. Palin said Alaska Senator Mark Begich, "had better get ANWR in the deal."

On the Ryan Plan, Gov. Palin reaffirmed her support and position that it will save, not destroy Medicare. "I'm tired of the media spin" that the Ryan Plan will end Medicare, she said. "If we keep on the road we're on, there will be no Medicare at all. We will be bankrupt." Wallace responded that the Congressional Budget Office says that seniors would pay more money out-of-pocket for care under the Ryan Plan. Gov. Palin said that this was still a better alternative to there being no Medicare at all from a national bankruptcy. Further, people who are now age 55 over over would not be affected by the Ryan Plan, which would not go into effect for 10 years.

On our three wars, Gov. Palin said we need to evaluate conditions of each one individually. On Afghanistan, Gov. Palin said she has faith in General Petraeus' handling of the war. On Libya, "what Congress passed is a good thing. Obama is not clear on the mission. It's nebulous and murky. We need to know what we are there for, otherwise, we don't need to be there." Gov. Palin did not have the opportunity to address Iraq specifically, however, she said "we need to re-think everything we do with foreign aid and intervention."

On the bus tour, Gov. Palin said, "We are publicizing Americana and our foundation. We need to know our foundation and history to be ready for the heady days ahead."

On Paul Revere, Gov. Palin said, "I did not mess up....the British were in the area for seven years." She reaffirmed that his midnight rides were warnings to us that the British were coming - to take up our arms; and also warnings to the British that we were armed and ready to defend ourselves. "I know my American history," Gov. Palin said.

Reactions garnered along the bus tour did not change her mind on a Presidential campaign. Gov. Palin said she did not interpret the reactions as being about herself, but about the message of returning to our fundamental values."

She said her decision to run or not is still "50/50."

Regarding the 25,000 emails being released by the State of Alaska, Gov. Palin said, "every rock in the Palin household has been turned over. People will capitalize on the opportunity to go through 25,000 emails to find out-of-context things to say...but that won't distract me." On Frank Bailey, Gov. Palin said he is a liar and was the only state employee out of 24,000 who had to go for ethics training.

On Romney, Gov. Palin said "I don't think it was taking a short to discuss his record." She reiterated that his record on a mandate within RomneyCare would be problematic, even though it was only at a state level. "I don't like local, state, or federal mandates, unless it comes to saving lives," Gov. Palin said adding that Romney respects the Tenth Amendment and Obama does not. On whether there was room for both Bachmann and herself in a Presidential race, Gov. Palin said, she executive experience and Bachmman does not and said, "the more competition, the merrier and the better."

Gov. Palin on Hannity: 3rd Party will rise if no GOP Restoration

A third party will rise up if the GOP continues to resist common-sense Constitutional conservatives who were swept into office in the 2010 mid-term elections, Governor Palin said to night in a three-segment interview with Sean Hannity from an undisclosed location likely in New Hampshire.

She said the GOP has strong planks but "needs to get its stuff together." A third party could split the conservative vote, resulting in another four years of Obama. Gov. Palin predicted dire consequences if Obama were to be re-elected: "We cannot have four more years of Obama...the nation will go bankrupt, and we won't have a friend in the world," because he will have angered all our allies.

Gov. Palin said she has great respect for the Ryan plan and that Obama is lying about it cutting Medicare, and leaving those with autism and Down Syndrome to their own devices. To the contrary, the Ryan Plan saves Medicare, Gov. Palin said. On our current economic path, Medicare would cease to exist at all, because a bankrupt nation would not be able to fund the program. Obama also cut Medicare when ObamaCare was enacted into law.

When questioned about her Presidential aspirations, Gov. Palin said "I love my freedom and individualism. You don't need a title to effect change." She dismissed as sensationalistic media coverage over her statement that Romney would face challenges because of the mandates associated with RomneyCare.

On Donald Trump, Gov. Palin had met him prior to the bus tour and she admires him for his business acumen, being a non-politician, and holding Obama accountable for things like the birth certificate.

"We should find inspiration in all these candidates, they all have their strengths," she said. But, Gov. Palin said, "shared values are not enough." She fears that many of the 2012 hopefuls will "not be aggressive enough," giving in to fear and political correctness. "We need a fundamental restoration of America," Gov. Palin said emphasizing the theme that underpinned her Northeast bus tour.

On MSNBC's accusation that the bus tour violated US Flag Code by using a flag to advertize, Gov. Palin said, "What a goof! ...What a joke! [The MSNBC reporter] has no clues what the laws are." She said the "this week of touring was one of the best weeks of my life, meeting with wonderful Americans," and spending time with her family.

On 2012, Gov. Palin said she would not be running a traditional campaign and never has. A decision on whether she will run is weeks away.

Men and women of the National Park Service and Foundation

I wanted to say a special thank you to the men and women of the National Park Service and Foundation. America's most historic and naturally beautiful places are adoringly cared for by these public servants.  And they are absolutely some of the finest people you will ever meet.

Thanks to all of you,  our national treasures are in very good hands.

Residents Hit Hard in Massachusetts

Drove through the rough weather last night in Massachusetts, hoping folks are safe this morning as residents survey the aftermath. Our prayers are with the victims of yesterday's twisters and all those who are faced with what may seem insurmountable rebuilding challenges. The damage we saw was shocking.

It was an honor to meet great MA residents as we pulled off I-91, heard their concerns and hopes for their state and country, and shared their appreciation for the East Coast's inspiring history. We handed out copies of the Constitution and asked that they help explain our nation's blueprint to their children. I was happy to be invited to call in to local radio station WTIC to talk about our nation's foundation and our victories, respecting the blessings a child provides - including our most special kids with special needs, and impressive UConn basketball programs.

Obviously in these parts the storm's widespread damage is the focus today. May these resilient MA residents find strength to move forward. God bless them.

Freedom Trail

It's a sunny day in Boston but our thoughts are still with those affected by yesterday's storm, which ripped through the western part of the state.

There's so much history here.  It’s amazing how much of our nation’s history can be found in just two and a half miles on the Freedom Trail.

We visited some of the cradles of American freedom today - Old North Church, Paul Revere's home, Bunker Hill - and met many patriots young and old.  We met Augie Parziale and his family who took us through the family business. Their bakery has been in business for more than 100 years and going strong because of hard work and determination to fight through the government's sea of red tape.

Walking in the footsteps of the Sons of Liberty is an extraordinary experience. The history of the rebellion and the republic lives on in these hallowed grounds. These sights are living symbols of our past that remind us to work towards a brighter future.

On to the Granite State!

Amazing Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island!

What a wonderful day to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island!

Seeing all the young students on field trips - and generations of families visiting as one - I was reminded of a Ronald Reagan speech from Liberty State Park in September 1980. He spoke of the Americans who passed through Ellis Island and whose first glimpse of their adopted country was the grand statue in New York’s harbor. He talked about our shared values and the common thread of the American dream across an endless mix of backgrounds.

And I was struck by the many visitors from overseas who were drawn to this place, not merely for its aesthetic beauty but also as a symbol for freedom and liberty.

Ellis Island and Liberty Island truly endure as lasting beacons of hope and the opportunity to live an American dream. Lady Liberty is the symbol of unity and friendship we have with other freedom-loving nations. It's also a "warning" of sorts, as France encouraged us to keep democracy alive as the recipient of this gift... basically telling us not to blow it. Thank you for this reminder, France!

Now on to visit colleagues at the FOX studios.
