Palin Family Signs Bristol's Book at Mall of America

It was a family book signing as three generations of Palins were on hand to sign copies of Bristol Palin's Not Afraid of Life at the Mall of America yesterday. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, her husband Todd, Bristol and her son Tripp were all present. Gov. Palin also signed copies of America by Heart and Going Rogue for those who also bought Not Afraid of Life.

The Undefeated - From Right and Left, Part 2

Last week, I reported in The Undefeated - From Right and Left, Part 1 how I was honored to review a rough cut DVD of The Undefeated in my home and attend the 8 PM screening in New York City. I wrote my review as a Palinista and invited the man who is the father figure in my life - William E. Thomas - to attend the 3:30 PM screening. His review is also included in the original story, and Damian Germinder's report, rounding out the perspective from the right.

I concluded the review with,

"The point is to bring in the independents, and those somewhat right or left of center who believe the fiction that has been spread about Gov. Palin over these past three years and/or simply do not know her record. In my opinion, the movie will succeed or fail not on winning minds and hearts, but on getting these people to the theaters in the first instance."

From the Left...David from the Diner

I met a hard leftist the morning of screening day at a diner where I occasionally have breakfast. Out of the starting gate he called Gov. Palin an "idiot" and a quitter." To him, Obama is "the best President in United States history." Needless to say, we had a heated debate. Then the light came on. "Sir...are you doing anything at eight o'clock tonight?" I asked "No, why?" "Well, I can get you in to see The Undefeated. It's about the woman you just called an 'idiot' and 'quitter.' I'd like you to see it and see if it changes your opinion of her." "Well, I do have an open mind," he said. "Sure, arrange it." He gave me his email address.

So, I did. David was to be there for 8 PM screening. I never saw him there, though there were two screening rooms and he may have been in the other one. In any case, he never returned my email asking if he showed up and what his thoughts were. If I run into him again, I'll be sure to ask. Maybe, there will be a Part 3.

From the Left...The Man in the Elevator

In the elevator, as Anna Marie Barone, LJ Regine, and I left, we met a balding man, who in the excitement I did not get to identify. He said, "I'm a Democrat, and I've got to tell you. This woman is brilliant! I can't understand the blind hatred toward her." We could see in his face that he was ashamed of vicious hatred that was on display in the movie's opening minutes. We thanked him.

From the Left...My Wife

I've been married to Elsy for 14 years and six months. We're still passionately in love, but one area where we are as different as night and day is politics. I'm a Reagan Conservative. Elsy is a borderline socialist. Couple that with her jealous streak, and let's just say it was a toxic recipe for a while. When she came home a month after my heart-signing in Bethlehem, PA, I wound up riding around with my entire "Sarah stash" in the back of my truck for three weeks. Elsy had found a rough draft of my post on the event, and let's just say she was not happy about it. Aside from the political differences, Elsy flat out saw Gov. Palin as "that woman" I was spending way too much time on. There were other things going on as well not related to politics.

But, time marches on and time heals. The non-political issues ultimately got resolved. We saved our marriage and our home. Elsy began to have more acceptance and respect for what I do. I opened up more and hid less.

A major break came involving a Palin event this year. "Sweetheart, would you like to go with me?" I asked expecting a flat "NO!" Elsy actually accompanied me. She was delighted to. She simply wanted to share with me, and not be excluded from what I was doing. Though things did not go as planned, her accompanying me was a major break-through. She even posed with my big Palin sign. Though she disagrees politically, she did it to support me.

But, could I get her to watch a two-hour movie about "that woman"? To be blunt, were she not my wife, Elsy would not have seen the movie on her own. She is just too dug in on her positions. But, knowing my history and involvement, she agreed to do it.

Monday night, I put the DVD in the player, closed the door to the master bedroom and went upstairs to run the site, syndicate, promote, and do Organize4Palin work. Though she had many criticisms of the movie (minor cinematography stuff that has since been resolved), and claims she "would have walked out half-way through," she watched it all the way to the last second. She still disagrees with Gov. Palin on policies and politics - and was able to articulate her points of disagreement. But, there was no hatred. No bile. No insults.

Though she does not like Gov. Palin the speaker, Elsy liked Gov. Palin as Wasilla's Mayor, as the AOGCC Chair and as Governor. Then...Elsy quickly said some things I never thought I'd hear her say about "that woman":

"She's a good person who has done good things."

"She could win in 2012. She's a fighter."

Elsy is still a leftist. Did the movie change her opinion of Gov. Palin? The jury is still out on that, but the prognosis is positive. She'll probably never admit it. But, I'll know over time. In a certain sense, getting her to watch The Undefeated was a journey that began on August 29, 2008 at 1226 EDT. It was in fact Elsy who post-viewing recalled Reagan (who she does not like). She recalled how I had pull over to the side of the road when I heard a woman's voice on the radio, whose name I did not yet know. I would not even know what she looked like for over an hour, but I knew what her forebear looked like and what his voice sounded like....

1976 = 2008.

1980 = 2012.

Setting the Record Straight… Here We Go Again

Wouldn’t it be nice if Beltway gossip magazines did some rudimentary fact-checking before they ran with stories? That is, of course, assuming that they’re not just making stories up out of thin air.

Take, for example, a Politico story out today alleging that Governor Palin’s “Team” is contacting a “list” of Iowa politicos for meetings. The story even quotes one such person who is purported to be on that list for a meeting. Only one problem: it’s not true. Real Clear Politics debunked Politico’s trumped up story:

Politico reported on Monday that Palin aides were reaching out to Iowa operatives and activists to set up meetings during her visit, citing Chuck Laudner, a former Iowa GOP executive director. But Laudner told RCP that he did not have a private meeting scheduled with Palin and that no one who works for the former governor had made contact with him.

Laudner said that he received an invitation to attend the festivities surrounding the movie premiere from Peter Singleton, a California native who moved to Iowa several months ago to help organize in the state in advance of a possible Palin presidential run. Singleton is acting on his own and is not a Palin aide but has often been confused for one as he has made his presence known across the state.

So basically we have a story that is completely bogus. Basic fact-checking is your friend, media. Try it some time.

In the meantime, Governor Palin looks forward to spending time tomorrow with the people of Pella, Iowa, and enjoying the premiere of Stephen K. Bannon’s new film, “The Undefeated.” After that, she heads to Minnesota to join her daughter Bristol at a book signing for Bristol's new book "Not Afraid of Life" at the Mall of America. Then back to Alaska for jury duty.

"The Undefeated": From Right and Left, Part 1

From the Right

Like several other well-known Palinistas, I was invited to review "The Undefeated," a DVD of which was sent to my home. I also got to attend a screening of the film in New York City, and meet with several colleagues and three Organize4Palin Regional Coordinators in my New York State organization. The screening afforded me the opportunity to see the progress made since the rough-cut DVD.

The movie was born when Governor Palin approached Rebecca Mansour, a close aide of hers with the directive to request Stephen K. Bannon, a conservative film maker produce a video series documenting her accomplishments - specifically as Mayor of Wasilla, Chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and Governor of Alaska, before and after being chosen as John McCain's running mate in 2008. Gov. Palin also wanted to set the record straight about why she resigned office after serving 31 months of her term, a decision that perturbs some potential supporters. Bannon agreed on one condition: that it be a full-length feature movie and that Victory Film Group finance the $1 million cost.

This portion of her life alone accounts for the movie's two-hour running time. There simply was no room to include Gov. Palin's terms as a City Councilwoman, or her accomplishments as a sportscaster, in commercial fishing, on the hunting grounds, or as an athlete. These accomplishments would have required at least a second, possibly a third two-hour movie.

Bringing Gov. Palin's Accomplishments to Life

I had spent 18 months compiling Gov. Palin's Lifetime of Accomplishments into an online reference manual. In fact, the site that preceded and was re-directed to US for Palin was called "Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's Accomplishments." Every month or so, the current Master List is updated. Jedediah Bila, who was at the 8 PM New York City screening along with Tammy Bruce said "it is one thing to read about Gov. Palin's accomplishments and another to see them brought to life on screen" by seeing processes, outcomes and eyewitness accounts. I concur. I know her accomplishments cold. But, this movie did a fantastic job in packaging and presenting them into a two-hour comprehensive course. To read the volumes of her accomplishments would take very much longer.

Viewers learned how Mayor Palin built Wasilla's infrastructure, developing what was essentially a "one horse town" into a bustling suburb, attracting major retailers, creating jobs, and building the city's economy. Viewers saw how Chairman Palin risked her own career and took on the GOP party chair who was involved in conflicts of interests at the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Seeing Gov. Palin's actual line item vetoes; seeing those trucks going up the ice road to Pt. Thomson; seeing all the work that went into Alaska's Clear and Equitable Share (ACES); and the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) is a lot different from merely reading thousands of words about them.

The movie also made painfully clear the forces arrayed against the former Alaska Governor, both from the left and the Republican establishment. Both are united in seething, evil hatred of Gov. Palin which was on full display in the unrated DVD and in the screening room. The theater version will have the more disturbing imagery and language obfuscated so the movie can get a PG-13 rating. Viewers saw first-hand how the barrage of frivolous ethics complaints, lawsuits and paperwork requests drove Gov. Palin to sacrifice her career for the good of Alaskans. The audio of hater extraordinaire Shannyn Moore egging on a caller who simply "wanted to be a pain ... to the governor" was a smoking gun indictment.

Viewers saw the sexism Gov. Palin endured throughout her political career and the parallels to President Ronald Reagan were striking and eerily Providential. One cannot walk away from that movie and not conclude that history is repeating itself. Her forebear too was Undefeated.

A Review from William E. Thomas, 89, WWII Veteran

William E. Thomas, who is the father figure in my life attended the 3:30 PM screening. He is a supporter of Gov. Palin's but was not familiar with her accomplishments, except for some details shared with him in conversations. After seeing the movie, he said,

"Sarah Palin is a genius! What she did in Alaska is awesome! But, the Democrats and Republicans alike fear her. She'll bring their corrupt dealings to light. It will be a whole new government if she gets in! She is one of a kind. Sarah Palin deserves to be President."

He can see that she is an existential threat to their way of doing business.

Having walked this planet for 89 years; having been a combat veteran in World War II; overcoming a war wound that left his left leg partially paralyzed; and having worked on tankers, freighters, and passenger liners subsequently, he is no stranger to salty language. He's seen and heard it all. About the evil hatred directed at Gov. Palin, William Thomas said "I was mortified to see that."

Cinematography

I am not a professional film reviewer of course, but I do edit and produce one-hour videos for my wife Elsy's weekly ballet instruction show on the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, and my editing has received good reviews. In other words, I know just enough about video editing and cinematography to be dangerous.

The Undefeated clearly is a professional production. The screening copy is significantly closer to being a finished product than the DVDs my colleagues and myself reviewed at home. Transitions are smooth, clean, and appropriate to the context. Further, the transitions' thematic elements make the movie emotionally powerful without being over-bearing or melodramatic. There were no artistic flaws, factual flaws, or "bloopers." The movie uses a fair amount of stock footage, which is typical of political documentaries, but the audience got some good hearty laughs out of some of the stock clips. The Director, Stephen K. Bannon, who I was privileged to meet, said some issues with lower third titles and music would be resolved in the final production version.

Getting Gov. Palin's Critics to the Theater

The true test of this movie's success will be getting those who do not particularly like Gov. Palin to the theater and filling seats. These are the people who need to see the movie and for whom the movie is intended. Any Palinista worth his or her salt should already know and be intimately familiar with Gov. Palin's accomplishments. Of course, as her supporters, we're going to like the movie. Why wouldn't we?

Yes, the movie wins minds and hearts. That's been documented already. I also saw it happen last night and will discuss it in Part 2. But, to win those minds and hearts, they must first be brought to the theater. The point is to bring in the independents, and those somewhat right or left of center who believe the fiction that has been spread about Gov. Palin over these past three years and/or simply do not know her record. In my opinion, the movie will succeed or fail not on winning minds and hearts, but on getting these people to the theaters in the first instance.

Organize4Palin and Team Sarah Literature Drop

Some 200 viewers to last night's screening received Organize4Palin Accomplishments brochures and palm cards brought by Jonathan Peress, Nassau County Coordinator and myself. Manhattan/Queens Coordinator LJ Regine, and Westchester Coordinator, Anna Marie Barone were also present and handing out literature. Team Sarah's Jackie Siciliano was present and handing out Team Sarah buttons, T-shirts and bumper stickers.

*Sigh* Reports of Tour Demise Are Greatly Exaggerated

Governor Palin today posted on Facebook:

Imagine our surprise when reading media reports today that the “One Nation Tour” has been cancelled. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Oh, wait, that’s because it hasn’t been cancelled. (Good ol' media... you never cease to amaze!)

As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I’m looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan.

I wouldn’t think it to be such a slow news day that, what with numerous wars and serious economic woes concerning Americans, a bus is driving news stories today. The next leg of the tour continues when the time comes. In the meantime, no one should jump to conclusions – certainly not the media with their long track record of getting things wrong or just making things up.

Donate $100+ to SarahPAC: Get "The Undefeated" on DVD

Donors to SarahPAC started receiving letters last week offering copies of The Undefeated to those who donate $100 or more. I received my letter on Saturday. I have confirmation that donors who use the website will receive the DVD. That is, you do not have to use the form on the printed letter and make a manual donation. Conservatives4Palin's Ian Lazaran posted the entire letter on June 18, which came to C4P from reader Daniel Morgan. You may donate by clicking the graphic or by any of the SarahPAC hyperlinks.

I have received a preview copy of the DVD and will also be attending the 2000 (8 PM) New York City screening tonight. Additionally, an Obama supporter I met in a diner agreed to attend as my guest. The purpose of including him is an acid test is to see if this movie alters his opinion of Governor Palin. I'm also asking my wife to review the movie, and her political leanings run to the left as well. Depending on how all goes, my review will probably be in three parts, so stay tuned.

Following is the transcript of the letter as posted by C4P, but with hyperlinks added:

As you know, an exciting new feature-length film about Gov. Palin will premiere in Iowa at the end of this month.

It’s called The Undefeated, and after a limited release in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada, you’ll be able to see it in AMC theaters across the nation.

OR…you can watch it right in your own home.

Because of your past support of Gov. Palin and SarahPAC, I’d like to invite you an early-release copy of The Undefeated in DVD format.

It is absolutely critical that as many Americans as possible see this film- and soon.

This documentary shatters the lies and distortions that have been spread by the biased media about Sarah Palin and her take-back-America brand of conservatism.

Day in and day out I hear Sarah denounced as “polarizing” and “extreme” by the national news media.

What are these “polarizing” things Sarah believes?

Well, like you and me, Sarah Palin believes that Americans should be able to choose their own doctor- not be forced into “Obamacare” against their will.

She believes that we need to start relying on our own natural resources instead of paying foreign dictators for oil.

She believes that every life is precious. That our Constitution doesn’t need to be rewritten by radical judges. And that Judeo-Christian values that our Founding Fathers embraced should still be our foundation today.

Those beliefs aren’t “polarizing.” They’re American.

And it’s time for patriots like you and me to stop letting the Palin haters and the national news media distort Sarah’s record especially now as America looks ahead to new leadership in 2012.

One way we can set the record straight is by making sure that millions of Americans see The Undefeated.

And today, I want to start with you.

Would you please consider supporting SarahPAC again today with a very special one-time gift of $100 or more?

In appreciation of such a generous gift, we will send you an early-release DVD copy of The Undefeated so you can see for yourself:

** Never-before-seen footage of Palin’s early years in office after she became Alaska’s youngest- and first female- ever elected governor.

** How Sarah’s hard-charging leadership earned her consistent approval ratings of 80% – and made her the most popular governor in America.

** The real story behind why she had no choice but to resign as governor in 2009.

Interviews with some of Palin’s closest friends, advisers, and former colleagues.

** And much, much more.

Once you’ve watched it, I know you’ll want to share The Undefeated with your friends and family.

And I encourage you to tell your neighbors to go see the film as soon as it’s released in theaters.

If your neighbors are already Palin fans, they’ll love it.

And if they aren’t, not only will they come away with a newfound appreciation for this great American patriot, they will understand for the first time how much this wife, mother, and public servant has been attacked, vilified, and abused by the national news media- just because she speaks her mind.

Like Ronald Reagan before her, Sarah Palin is a leader who’s not afraid to stand up to the “establishment” if that’s what it takes to defend the America she loves.

She speaks the truth- and that scares the liberals.

They can’t beat her in a debate- so they belittle her instead.

For the past two years the media has done everything in its power to mock Sarah, misquote her, and drive down her approval ratings.

That’s why conservative film-maker Stephen Bannon personally invested $1 million of his own money to write, direct and produce The Undefeated.

He knows, just like you and I do, how important Sarah Palin’s leadership is to America right now- and in 2012.

That’s why he’s kindly given SarahPAC the right to send early-release copies of The Undefeated out to our best supporters.

If you can’t send $100 today, will you consider sending whatever you can at this time to help Sarah continue the Tea Party Revolution she started with the 2010 mid-term elections?

Thank you for continuing to help Gov. Palin and SarahPAC take back America from the Obama liberals!

Many thanks,
Tim Crawford, Treasurer
Sarah Palin’s SarahPAC

P. S. Remember, for your gift of $100 or more today to SarahPAC, you’ll receive an early-release DVD copy of The Undefeated. Thank you for standing with Sarah as she fights for free-markets, limited government, and American exceptionalism. We’re glad to have a patriot like you on our side!

Happy Father's Day Heath and Palin Gentlemen

Today, we pause to recognize three generations of Heaths and Palins as husbands, fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers. The Heaths and Palin families are the bedrock of Governor Sarah Palin's success. If you want to make a marriage work, you will be hard-pressed to find better models than Chuck and Sally Heath or Todd and Sarah Palin.

Chuck Heath

Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather. Living Pioneer. Quintessential Alaskan. Science Teacher. Hunter. Fisherman.

He probably never knew that baby Sarah hefting these two shrimps...

...would 47 years later be a 2012 Presidential hopeful hefting a lobster on a bus tour of historic sites.

The phrase, "Don't retreat. Reload!" originated from Chuck Heath. She first referenced it in Going Rogue as the opening to Chapter 6, on p. 383, where he said, “Sarah’s not retreating! She’s reloading!”

Todd Palin

Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather. Living Pioneer. Quintessential Alaskan. 4-Time Iron Dog Champion. Hunter. Commercial Fisherman. Roughneck. First Dude.

Macho enough to race a snow machine 120 mph in pitch blackness, but not does not consider changing a diaper an affront to his masculinity....

Brains...Brawn...Heart. Todd has the right balance of them all.

See Missy Stewart's Father's Day Tribute to Todd: Todd Palin — the “Good Dad”

Track Palin

Devoted Husband. Living Pioneer. Quintessential Alaskan. Hunter. Commercial Fisherman. Veteran.

On May 19, 2011, Track Palin married Britta Hanson. He is an Army Reservist, will be studying at the University of Alaska, and is taking over the Palin's commercial fishing business.

Gov. Palin on Freedom Watch: "Love to Give White House Fits"

"I would love to give the White House fits and give solutions to America's problems," Governor Palin said tonight during an interview with Judge Napolitano on his Fox Business show Freedom Watch from her home studio in Wasilla, Alaska. "This is not about Sarah Palin. What does the middle class desire in government? They want Government to get out of the way," she said midway through the interview.

Judge Napolitano opened the interview asking Gov. Palin if she felt vindicated knowing that "there was no there there" in the 24,000 released emails and that it "showed you hard at work." She answered that press coverage shows their priorities are skewed. "I hope those who read the emails got to learn about oil and gas policy, energy independence, fish and game, the Second Amendment, why I opposed the stimulus plan...between having my personal emails hacked, and a former staffer hoarding five years of emails to put out-of-context in a book, I have nothing to hide."

On Congressman Weiner's resignation, Judge Napolitano asked if Gov. Palin thought Congress was right to demand his resignation or if the people of Brooklyn and Queens were entitled to have, "even a pervert representing them" if they so chose. "They are entitled to have someone like Weiner if that is what they really, truly want, but they deserve better." Gov. Palin said he should have resigned immediately, as his actions "rendered him impotent," eliciting a hearty laugh from the Judge.

When asked if Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is prepared to be President, Gov. Palin said "she is prepared," and touted Bachmann's Tea Party credentials, and "common-sense conservatism."

"Anybody but Obama," Gov. Palin said emphatically. Judge Napolitano asked Gov. Palin if she ever envisions herself in a debate like the one earlier this week featuring several 2012 candidates. "Once in a while, I do she said. It's natural. What I want to see is GOP contenders call one another out on their records...Obama was not vetted by his party [and the press]," she said. "I would want to know if someone changed their spots" and why.

Judge Napolitano said that a 2012 Presidential run by Gov. Palin would be a game-changer and give the White House fits. "I would love to give the White House fits and give solutions to America's problems," she said.

The Judge asked Gov. Palin if she thought any of the 2012 contenders were the "genuine article." "There's lots of genuine articles who understand common-sense conservatism, and free market values - some declared and some not." Judge Napolitano pressed further, asking "what if the GOP chose a big government Republican?"

"We have to make sure a nominee surfaces who supports smaller, smarter government. Even so, things cannot get any worse under a Republican administration. Anybody but Obama."

Gov. Palin concluded the interview saying that she supports Speaker of the House John Boehner's resolution on Libya. "Congress should stop Obama from engaging in a war a) we can't afford, and b) he has no consent for." She further stated that bombing combatants is not a support role, but is engaging in hostilities. But, Gov. Palin expressed her preference that Libya be resolved by Congress, not by the judicial system.

Emails: Gov. Palin a Hard-Working Public Servant

When the State of Alaska released over 24,000 of Gov. Palin's emails, the mainstream media feeding frenzy was on to come up with the next "-gate" story. Surely in that batch of emails, there had to be some buried bodies, corruption, bribery, embezzlement of tax-payer funds, a nice, salacious sex scandal, curse and threat-laden emails, or written displays of egregious bad judgment. Now, into its third day, reporters have found nothing of the sort. Even the normally left-leaning CNN concluded from their reading of the stack that Gov. Palin was a hard-working public servant committed to her constituents' best interests.

When SarahPAC's treasurer Tim Crawford asked for volunteers to read Gov. Palin's emails, I answered the call this morning, going to Crivella West Incorporated searchable database.

In the first one, Gov. Palin expresses her anger that she is not being timely briefed on military deployments and home-comings and finds out after the fact. "I've asked repeatedly to be in the loop and it's unacceptable to still not be given info on military activities that I am expected, and should be, participating in," she wrote.

Setting the Record Straight: About the Hard-Working Governor...

Conservatives4Palin has come up with the great idea of encouraging readers to do their own archiving of Governor Palin’s emails:

The media went crazy thinking they were going to find a smoking gun on Governor Palin by forcing the State of Alaska to release 24,199 pages of email communications during her time in office. They were wrong and have admitted as much. After the media spent so much time and effort, they discovered no “bombshells,” which of course they were hoping for all along....

The media is cherry-picking small excerpts to highlight, but they are leaving the bulk of the 24,199 pages out of their reports. That’s where you come in…

We need to gather links from the email database that prove what kind of leader Governor Palin really is. We need to find the stuff the media doesn’t want the public to know about. We want to show the stuff they aren’t reporting but is still available online. The media wanted to “expose” what kind of executive Governor Palin was while in office… So, let us oblige them! We need your help collecting and archiving excerpts.

Read more here about how you can get involved. We encourage everyone to join in. We'll link to the finished results here.

Setting the Record Straight: About False Quotes Attributed to Gov. Palin

An absurd opinion piece in Politico includes a quote attributed to Governor Palin that is a total fabrication and yet is deliberately written to appear as if it is a legitimate direct quote. By any standard this is unacceptable even for an opinion piece. This puts us in mind of a real quote of something Governor Palin actually did once say to the media: “Quit making stuff up.”

Another “WTF” Obama Foreign Policy Moment

Governor Palin today posted on Facebook:

*As many readers have pointed out “WTF” is for “Winning The Future,” President Obama’s re-election campaign slogan.

As Governor I fought the Obama Administration’s plans to cut funds for missile defense in Alaska. So imagine how appalled and surprised I was to read this article by former Clinton CIA Director James Woolsey, appropriately titled “Giving Away the Farm,” concerning President Obama’s latest bizarre actions relating to missile defense.

President Obama wants to give Russia our missile defense secrets because he believes that we can buy their friendship and cooperation with this taxpayer-funded gift.  But giving military secrets and technologies to a rival or competitor like Russia is just plain dumb.  You can’t buy off Russia.  And giving them advanced military technology will not create stability.  What happens if Russia gives this technology (or sells it!) to other countries like Iran or China?   After all, as Woolsey points out, Russia helped Iran with its missile and nuclear programs. Or what happens if an even more hardline leader comes to power in the Kremlin?

We tried buying off the Kremlin with technologies in the 1970s.  That policy was a component of “detente,” and the hope was that if we would share our technologies with them, they would become more peaceful.  Things, of course, didn’t work out that way.  The Kremlin took western technologies and embarked on a massive military building program. History teaches that peace comes from American military strength.  And a central component of that has always been technological superiority.  Why would President Obama even dream of giving this away?

Members of Congress saw how foolish President Obama’s gambit was, so they put a section in the defense appropriation bill that specifically forbids the federal government from spending money to share these technologies with the Kremlin.  President Obama actually threatened to veto the defense appropriation bill over this section of the law! Fortunately, the House passed the bill with a veto-proof majority, a whopping 322 to 96. Attention now turns to the Senate.

Why is it that President Obama seems to work so hard to give things to our enemies, while at the same time asking friends and allies like Israel to make sacrifices?

During these tough economic times when we are facing massive deficits and a competitive global economy, does President Obama really want to give away technologies that the American taxpayer paid lots of money to develop?  Giving away our missile defense secrets won’t make us safer.  What it will do is create a situation where we are facing an arms race with ourselves. Russia gets access to our technologies, and we are forced to spend even more money because of the need to stay ahead. Does this make sense to you? Me neither. File this under “WTF.”

The American Spirit (Unfortunately Missed by the MSM)

Our family has been blessed with an opportunity to showcase all that is good and strong and free about our exceptional nation.

Even though the media too often sadly chose sound-bites over substance, they did get lots of substance during our “One Nation” tour from the nearly two dozen opportunities I got to speak candidly with them and talk about policy, politics, history, and everything in between. More importantly, I got to talk with countless everyday Americans who want to get our country back on the right track.   It’s been an extraordinary honor to meet so many fellow patriots who care deeply about this country, who want a brighter future for all of us, and who recognize the undeviating line that connects our history to our future.

Not surprising, some members of the media missed a lot of this due to their relentless and futile search for scuttlebutt. So, we assembled this video to capture the amazing Americana spirit of the places and people we visited. I invite you to enjoy this recap of last week’s east coast bus tour.

Please remember we must learn about our past – our great successes, our bitter struggles, our enduring strength – in order to navigate through the challenges ahead so that we might remain a shining city on a hill and the abiding beacon of freedom.

As we look to our Charters of Liberty and our strong foundation to fundamentally restore America, we'll keep moving forward... and we'll keep reporting on it ourselves.

Experts Back Sarah Palin’s Historical Account

From the Boston Herald:

You betcha she was right!

THE BOSTON HERALD
By Chris Cassidy
Monday, June 6, 2011

Sarah Palin yesterday insisted her claim at the Old North Church last week that Paul Revere "warned the British" during his famed 1775 ride — remarks that Democrats and the media roundly ridiculed — is actually historically accurate. And local historians are backing her up.

Palin prompted howls of partisan derision when she said on Boston’s Freedom Trail that Revere "warned the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free."

Palin insisted yesterday on Fox News Sunday she was right: "Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there. That, hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms."

In fact, Revere’s own account of the ride in a 1798 letter seems to back up Palin’s claim. Revere describes how after his capture by British officers, he warned them "there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time for I had alarmed the Country all the way up."
