Palin: Obama’s Predictable, Tiring, Ineffective Lecture

Governor Palin today, via Facebook Note called Obama to task for his hypocrisy in blaming a prior administration for today's ills, when Obama was part of the problem as a Senator.

Congress’ approval rating is at 11% because politicians thwart the will of the people, explode our national debt, and practice reckless deficit spending while hoping we’ll sit down and shut up about their nonsensical agenda. President Obama just made the AFL-CIO suffer through another “Blame Bush” lecture today as he, as usual, put the car in reverse and looked backward to find someone else to blame for problems he helped cause and now aggressively perpetuates.

Okay, Mr. President, you tell us we have to keep looking backward (as we’re steered toward the cliff), so let’s go:

Barack Obama was part of the problem while in Congress. Senator Obama pushed the fiscally irresponsible measures that Democrats, who held the majority, advanced while holding the government’s purse strings. And now, as President, he’s not just one of the pack anymore as a mere contributor to the problem – he now leads the problem. We are sick and tired of President Obama pointing his finger and screeching through his blame game about what he “inherited.” Up until 18 months ago he was fully engaged in that Congressional herd mentality of the Left as he just went with the flow, adding to the debt and deficit, instead of bucking his party’s leadership to stop the recklessness. (Did you ever hear him as an independent voice standing up and speaking out against his Democrat party’s overspending and over reach? Come to think of it, did you ever hear of his congressional record at all? For the life of me I can’t think of any time he used his bully pulpit as a sitting U.S. Senator to lead free market, equality-respecting pro-private sector efforts, nor to change up actions he now conveniently condemns. He could have refudiated them all.)

His lecture today must have been tough for our good union brothers and sisters to sit through, though it may have resonated with some union bosses who desire their members to adopt a herd mentality, too, so as to not dare speak up against what Washington is doing to us.

Surely the good, hard working Americans who happen to be union members know, too, that Obama’s blame game is getting old. It’s obviously ineffective, it’s the antithesis of good leadership, and it reeks of hypocrisy. A complicit media won’t call President Obama out on this, so let’s do it ourselves, friends. It helps put his criticisms and fiscal problems in context.

In contrast to President Obama’s lack of leadership in getting our country on a responsible fiscal path, there are some who have a positive agenda, including Rep. Paul Ryan who has shared ideas that deserve a fair hearing. He knows why we need to rein in the government’s reckless spending and how it can be done. Please read this excerpt of an article by Rep. Ryan and be thankful there are some who remember why they were hired to serve us in Congress – it sure wasn’t to merely vote “present” as the powers-that-be jam the car in reverse while hoping we won’t remember who dug the ditch we’re headed toward.

“Reducing deficits should begin with a budget plan to cut spending, yet incredibly Congress abandoned its legal obligation to write a budget this year, which means the leadership has abandoned even the pretense of limiting government’s insatiable spending appetite. I hope the Debt Commission, of which I am a member, will identify potential major spending reductions when we publish our report in December. But waiting for somebody else to suggest cuts was no excuse for Congress to dismiss its mandate to write America’s budget.

There’s no shortage of ideas for cuts we could make immediately. Last year I identified $4.8 trillion we could cut. Right now we could easily reduce spending by $1.3 trillion by: rescinding $266 billion in unused stimulus funds and another $16 billion in leftover TARP money; saving $925 billion by cutting and capping discretionary spending at 2008 levels; imposing a hiring and pay freeze on government employees, saving $65 billion; and reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the proximate originators of the home mortgage meltdown, to save $30 billion. I would also give the President line-item veto authority to realize further savings.

The American people and both parties see the need to get federal spending under control. Any time congressional leaders want, we can start by cutting unnecessary expenditures. Let’s not punish business and workers by raising their taxes at a time when the economy is struggling to return to a growth path—that would only make a desperate situation worse.”

Rep. Ryan is right about not raising taxes.

Lest we forget, the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Democrats have a special New Years gift in store for American taxpayers. On January 1, 2011, they are going to hit us with the largest tax increase in U.S. history. By allowing the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts to expire on New Years Eve, the Democrats are going to impose a $3.8 trillion tax increase on Americans over the next decade.

Instead of admitting that this massive tax hike is just an attempt to get hardworking taxpayers to continue to fund their reckless spending, the Democrats are selling it is as a tax on “the rich” to increase revenues to pay down the debt. However, history shows that raising the top tax rate doesn’t lead to increased revenues. It’s what Arthur Laffer describes as a tax the rich Catch-22: the highest earners, who are expected to bear most of the tax burden, generally also have the best tax advisers to help them get around it.

Regardless of what the Democrats want you to believe, this is a tax increase on every American who pays taxes. Families will suffer because the Democrats’ tax hike will reinstate the marriage penalty, cut the child tax credit in half, abolish various personal exemptions, and impose limits on itemized deductions like home mortgage interest and charitable contributions. Investors and savers would suffer through increases in the top rates in long-term capital gains and qualified dividends. And the Alternative Minimum Tax would end up hitting 15 million taxpayers – up from 4 million in 2009.

We’ll all be feeling the pinch, but the ones who will be hit hardest by this massive tax hike will be America’s small business owners – the businesses that create up to 70% of all jobs in this country. According to a recent report by the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, small business owners will pay over half the taxes raised when the Democrats increase the top two tax brackets. In an already anemic jobless recovery, the last thing government should do is to impose even higher tax burdens on job creators. Instead of hurting “the rich,” such measures would end up hurting the unemployed.

To burden American families and small businesses with the largest tax hike in history while the economy is teetering on the brink of a potential double-dip recession is madness. It’s another reason why we must elect commonsense fiscal conservatives in the upcoming midterm elections this November. We simply cannot afford the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Democrats. We need people in Congress who know that the best way to get our economy moving again is to cut taxes, not raise them by unprecedented amounts.

You might have noticed that the Democrats have been throwing around the phrase “common sense” more often these days, but actions speak louder than words. We need real leadership in Washington across the board. We need common sense solutions, not finger-pointing, buck-passing, and lecturing.

Where to Find Leadership and Inspiration

Today, I got to partake an in an email thread on Team Sarah which discussed how the current president is tantamount to not having a president at all. The frustration on the part of the thread originator is quite understandable. The man who occupies the White House after all is well-renowned for his complete lack of leadership, utter incompetence, and a general "blame America first" mentality - points that do not require belaboring. Following is my response:

I have to respectfully disagree. We do have a president, except SHE is a private citizen now, sans official title.

Our unofficial President provides leadership and inspiration. She does not polarize as so many of critics say - much rather - she galvanizes us. Her endorsed candidates' track record of winning primaries and special elections is around 86%. She has defined and shaped debates on health care, illegal immigration, national security, cap and tax. She has exposed the man who holds the official title for the incompetent fool that he is and has begun the process of emasculating him. She has lived inside his head rent free for nearly two years now and plays with him as a cat plays with a ball of yarn or a mouse that it caught. The other characters considering presidential runs in 2012 would likely be slaughtered by her quite easily should she choose to run. In any regard, she is proving that the best man for the job of President right now is a woman.

Bottom Line: I stopped looking to Washington for my leadership and inspiration since that November night and started looking to Wasilla. I have not turned back since.

Jedediah Bilah: The Leaders We Choose

Perhaps this thread was providential, because today, Manhattan-based conservative columnist and commentator, Jedediah Bilah wrote "The Leaders We Choose," which was a brief treatise on authenticity and transparency. "We’ve somehow – as a society – come to revere the fake," Bilah wrote. She continued, "So, why does it surprise us when we elect politicians whose pretty words, suave gestures, and fancy presentations are the garnish on empty plates?" Though the current President was not mentioned by name, Bilah was quite likely referring to him. Indeed, Gov. Palin in her VP Convention Speech made several references to the farce that was the Obama candidacy.

Bilah concluded:

"Polished and avant-garde shouldn’t automatically equal presidential. Honesty should. Integrity should. And we – as a society – should make it our job to tear off those spiffy exteriors and find out what’s underneath before we pledge allegiance to anyone or anything."

Our Time of Choosing

Indeed, the man of great oratorical skill - uh, with a teleprompter running - who occupies the White House has a record of miserable failure which speaks for itself. Gov. Palin's record of success outdoing prior successes likewise speaks for itself.

In the coming months, we face our national Time of Choosing. Which do you prefer? More fake? Or a change to Real?

Choose.

Geller's "The Post-American Presidency" on Drudge

Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer's "The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration's War on America" was released July 2010 and appeared today in an advertisement on the Drudge Report. Pamela Geller syndicates her Sarah Palin-related content to US for Palin.

Popular conservative blogger Pamela Geller and New York Times bestselling author Robert Spencer sound a wake-up call for Americans to stop the Obama administration from limiting our hard-won freedoms, silencing our democratic voices, and irreparably harming America for generations to come.

America is being tested in a way that she has never been tested before. Since taking the oath of office in January 2009, President Barack Obama has cheered our enemies and demoralized our allies. He is hard at work "remaking" America by destroying the free-market system and nationalizing major segments of our economy, demonizing dissent and restricting freedom of speech, turning against our longtime friends, and above all, subjecting us to the determinations of foreign authorities.

In this timely and urgent battle cry, Pamela Geller, founder of the widely popular website www.AtlasShrugs.com, and New York Times bestselling author Robert Spencer team up to expose the Obama administration’s destructive agenda—largely ignored by the mainstream media—and rally Americans to protect the sovereignty of a country that is under siege by the highest levels of its own government. As Americans see their paychecks shrinking every day, Obama ignores our forefathers’ founding principle: individual rights. Instead, he seeks to level the playing field—to transform both the global and national landscape in favor of our enemies—even if it means cutting America off at the knees. He envisions himself as more than just a president of the United States, but as a shaper of the new world order, an internationalist energetically laying the groundwork for global government: the president of the world.

A vital guide to helping conservatives prepare for the tough battles ahead, The Post-American Presidency critically examines the Obama administration’s ominous and revealing moves against our basic freedoms, particularly as he seizes control of the three engines of the American economy: health care, energy, and education. The Shining City on a Hill has gone dark. But America is not dead. The time is NOW to stand up and fight.

Post-American Presidency can be purchased through US 4 Palin's North Star Group Amazon store.

Let's help the Sarah Palin Legal Defense Fund reach new heights and get Gov. Palin to Washington!

SarahWaveReaganSalute

Laura was sitting in the flight operations building. She had gotten weather information, filed her flight plan, pre-flighted and ran the plane up and shut down. She reviewed the DC airspace procedures one last time. She recalled that “Sarah” had written in Going Rogue that she never seen a replay of her own GOP 2008 convention speech. Laura was going to correct that. They had watched Reagan’s Time of Choosing speech back in La Crosse....

Laura had the YouTube video ready to go on her own laptop, which she connected to the office’s big flat screen. “Sarah” entered. After greeting each other, Laura told “Sarah” she had to step away for a few minutes and started the 46-minute video.

She returned about five minutes later and sat with “Sarah” to watch the rest of the video. “Thank you, Laura!” she said when it was over.

Laura’s voice quivered slightly, “Sarah, it’s time.” Laura did not want to think about the farewell that was to be in two short hours. But, the entire point of the journey boiled down to this final flight after all. In essence, that farewell was the point. Laura had a job to do. They went to the plane, started up, and Laura got the clearance.

Providential US Airways Dash-8 Q100

To “Sarah’s” right was a US Airways Dash-8 Q100 (Ed. Note: see Ron Devito Rochester Book Signings Part I and VI for significance of this).

Cleared for Takeoff

The flight would take off to the southwest then turn east climbing to 7,000 feet.

Over West Virginia

The flight paralleled Pennsylvania’s southern border, entering then leaving Maryland. Save for some scattered clouds, the night was clear and crisp. The controller instructed Laura to turn toward the southeast and assigned a visual approach to Reagan National’s southeast facing runway. Laura would have preferred the more southerly runway aligned with the night’s winds, but she did not request a change. The runway choice proved providential.

Initial Descent over Dulles

Laura was instructed to descend to 2000 feet. Her flight path took her right over Dulles Airport.

Following the Potomac River

Soon, Laura was following the Potomac River. Washington DC’s principal buildings started to come into view.

Cleared to Land

Her assigned runway came into view and she was cleared to land. The city’s main buildings passed by the left wing, as “Sarah” looked on.

Watergate

The hacking of "Sarah's" private email accounts in 2008 was a modern day version of Watergate. As the flight passed the complex, she renewed her vow to continue being the antithesis of what happened here so many years ago.

750 Feet to Go

Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument

George Mason and Arland Williams Bridges

Jefferson Memorial

370 Feet to Go

General Aviation Parking

As Laura pulled off to taxi to the General Aviation area, a US Airways 737 took off likely for New York or Boston. Laura would be repositioning this plane at the Flying W in southern New Jersey after a day or two.

Upon reaching General Aviation, Laura completed her post-flight checklist and started secured the plane, starting with the left wing. Unbeknownst to Laura, “Sarah” tied down the right wing, and waited as Laura went to work on the tail. When Laura swung round to the right wing, she swallowed hard, seeing that “Sarah” had done it.

Meet me here, January 20, 2021 at noon...

"Sarah" turned her and said, "thank you for all you've done. If you need something from me, let me know." Laura paused for a minute then - baiting "Sarah" - said with intonation as if "Sarah" owed her a major debt – "yes, there is something I want you to do for me!" "Sarah" was taken aback at first. Was Laura just another one of so many sycophants who would use her out then trash her to the media? This could not be happening, but somehow "Sarah" could detect the intonation was a put-on. Laura was a skilled pilot; however, she was a lousy actress, and she could not maintain the charade beyond that sentence. Her eyes filled up and she choked out, "yes, 'Sarah.' There are a few things I want from you…"

…Never change who you are. Don’t let this place change you.

…On January 20th at 12 noon in the year 2021, I want you to meet me here. I’ll have a jet. I’ll take you direct to Anchorage, then in this plane back to Wasilla. I took you out of Alaska. After you have led and served – let me take Alaska’s daughter home.

A Hug and a Salute

"Sarah's" motorcade was now on the ramp. "Sarah" walked toward Laura and gave her a long hug and said "thank you." "Sarah" turned and walked to the motorcade. Laura snapped to attention facing "Sarah" and raised her right hand in a salute and held it there. "Sarah" turned and waved back. Laura held the salute. "Sarah" entered the Suburban and closed the door. The motorcade pulled away, and Laura moved only to face it as it left, still holding the salute. When the motorcade was out of sight, Laura dropped to attention, then at ease, then normal. She savored the moment and the sweet 2 AM air.

She turned took a final look at the now empty seat once occupied by "Sarah" for 13 flights over 40 hours, gently closed the door and locked it, then locked her side.

From Her House to Her House...

It’s 3,314 nautical miles – 3,848 statute miles - from Wasilla to Washington. It took 40.3 hours all told; 9.1 hours of instrument flight, and 13 hours of night flight to bring "Sarah" from her house to her house (from January 20, 2013 - till January 20, 2021)….
