According
to news sources, Sarah Palin has scheduled two other speaking
engagements in addition to her November 16 interview with Oprah
Winfrey. Keep in mind that there has been no official word from a Palin
spokesperson concerning any of the three engagements. Several times in the
past, groups have issued an invitation to Governor Palin to speak at an
event and then advertised that she would be making an appearance before
receiving confirmation from her that she would indeed do so. That has
resulted in misunderstandings and negative publicity. So with that
caveat in mind. the following news items are presented.
On October 18, Ozark's First
announced Governor Palin's December 2 speaking engagement:
Former republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin is coming to the Ozarks.
She's booked to speak at the College of the Ozarks on Wednesday, December 2nd.
It's for the Leonard B. and Edith Gittinger Community Convocation at the Keeter Gymnasium.
The tickets are free; call (417) 690-2240. They'll be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis the week of Thanksgiving.
The former Alaska governor is expected to speak at 7 p.m. that day.
On October 20, KSPR News
announced that the tickets had been sold out:
College of the Ozarks news release:
Tickets
to attend the Sarah Palin Convocation at College of the Ozarks on
December 2, are no longer available. The ticket line quickly filled,
consuming all tickets available to the public. Due to limited seating,
there was a cap on available tickets. “As a charismatic speaker and
highly-interesting political figure, Sarah Palin attracts much public
interest,” said Sue Head, Executive Director of The Keeter Center for
Character Education. “Because of this, the College anticipated that
tickets would go quickly.”
KTUU TV
announced on October 20 that Governor Palin would be speaking at a Right to Life Event in Milwaukee on November 6:
Former
Gov. Sarah Palin will speak in a Milwaukee, Wisc. suburb next month as
part of a program presented by Wisconsin Right to Life.
Officials say tickets must be purchased in advance with a limit of four per order.
Palin's stop in Milwaukee comes 11 days before her memoirs are to be released.
On October 21, the Juneau Empire published this summary:
Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is about to re-emerge on the national scene.
It's
been four months since Palin resigned as Alaska governor, and she's
largely been out of the public eye working on her memoir. "Going Rogue:
An American Life" will debut next month.
Now Palin is ready to
help promote the book by sitting down with Oprah Winfrey, who endorsed
Barack Obama in the presidential election.
Harpo Productions announced Tuesday that Palin will appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Monday, Nov. 16.
According
to Harpo, the interview will be Palin's first about her new book, and
it will be the first time Palin and Winfrey will have met.
Palin's
book was No. 4 on Amazon.com's best-seller list on Tuesday. It's slated
to be released Tuesday, Nov. 17, the day after Palin's interview with
Winfrey.
Palin will also be hitting the speech circuit in November and December.
Palin is scheduled to speak in a Milwaukee suburb next month as part of a program presented by Wisconsin Right to Life.
Officials
say no tickets will be sold at the door of the Nov. 6 event at
Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park in West Allis, Wis.
Palin
also is set to speak about patriotism, citizenship and civic engagement
on Dec. 2 at the College of the Ozarks in southwest Missouri. The
Springfield News-Leader reported Tuesday that Palin will be the
featured speaker for a community convocation.
The College of the Ozarks is a Christian school near Branson with about 1,400 students.
Since
resigning from office July 26, Palin has made only a few public
appearances, most notable a speech before investors in Hong Kong. She's
also appeared at a gun rights dinner in Anchorage, and attended the
welcome home ceremony in Fairbanks for soldiers, including her son,
Track.
